Sos and Victoria Petrosyan are artists, of world fame, this branch of the magic called Transformisme which we will name hereafter “instantaneous Changes of costumes” for more clearness.


A number of magic to “instantaneous changes of costumes” is a number in which the artists manage to change their vestimentary appearance in an extremely fast way, quasi instantaneous, in front of the public and without that Ci not perceiving the procedure of the transformation: the change of costume took place by magic.

They are of Armenian origin. Arménie having been one of the republics of the Soviet Union, they are attached, with other artists, at prestigious “the Russian school” of the change of costume (an artistic practice which is now regarded as a discipline with whole share inside the magic). There is also another school for the change of costume: the Italian school, initiated by Fregoli and nowadays perpetuated by Arturo Brachetti.

The numbers of Magic are definitely more widespread in Eastern Europe than in Western Europe, because the circus is still very present there: in each village there is often a circus of passage, and in each spectacle of circus there is one or more number of magicians.

For the numbers of change of costumes, each couple of magicians uses its own methods, often transmitted generations in generation (since approximately one century). The trade secrets of the costumes obviously are very well kept.

Sos Petrosyan was born on May 27, 1972 in Erevan (Arménie). His/her father (Sos Petrosyan senior) gave up a career in the right and decided for the circus, he is now the Director general of the Armenian National Circus and Doctor Professor d' Art.

Very early it started to inform Sos Junior in art of the music, the mime, the dance, and the acrobatics, which could work its career and would give rise to its excellence in juggling and music.
As of the 4 years age its talent was already noticed. In 1976 it was the subject of documentary named “the small Star”. In 1988 it also played of the roles to the cinema, whose most known film is “Melancholy”.
With the 6 years age it was accepted in the famous school of Ballet of Bolchoï, where it studied during 11 years. It excelled in Dance and Choreography, two disciplines for which it received a diploma.

Sos then created a number which it named “juggler with drums”, who been worth the first price to him has many festivals and contest in all USSR, among which: The great Price of the international contest Juaniba with Riga in 1990, and the first place with the festival “Chance” of Moscow in 1991.
Encouraged by the famous Russian Clown Nikulin Jury, Sos presented his single number at the International Festival of the young Circus “Circus of Tomorrow” in Paris in 1991. Its performance been worth to him to obtain the prestigious price “Price of Michael OX”.
On its return to the country, its diary was full to present its number in more than 35 countries, including the festival of Monte Carlo, Moscow and Budapest.

In 2000, inspired by the Italian magician Arturo Brachetti, Sos undertook to create a new number based on the traditional Russian methods of fast changes of costumes and combining all the cords of its arc since choreography until the special effects. It hoisted its number “rising generation of fast changes” on the level of the most prestigious spectacles of the world.

A fast number of change of costume is always a very expensive number, but also all that there is of more impressive.
Sos and Victoria live for that.

Victoria Petrosyan was born in Moscow on July 8, 1978. During its childhood it returned many visits to the circus of Nikulin Jury in whom his parents were employed. His/her father was of technical director and his mother the conceptrice of lightings. Hoping that their daughter becomes lawyer, they had registered it at the University of right.
However in 2000 the life of Victoria rocked radically. She started to work with Sos on her new number. By presenting this number it gained the heart of the public by its artistic direction, its beauty and its grace.
At one moment it appears in a sexy dress of day and in a wink it is held in an elegant evening gown. Victoria astonishes her public by the incredible speed with which it transforms an elegant look into another.
Sos and Victoria carried the art of the change of costume on a new top.
You can nothing make of other that to retain your breath when they present this modern ultra version of a traditional art, which was worth to them the first price of the festival of the circus of Moscow, and Mandrake d' Or in Paris.
Sos and Victoria work on this number since 1996. Sos worked during months with Italian and French designers, to design these very expensive costumes. In 2000 the couple could present the completed number. The costumes used for the spectacle must be prepared 2 hours in advance. Before the number, the 40 last minutes are devoted to the preparing, each folds must be at the good place! A second set of costumes is always ready to counter any possibility. After the spectacle it takes them 2 more hours to check the state of each costume and to prepare them for the next spectacle. It takes them sometimes an additional time to carry out the minor repairs. They have always their sewing machine with them. Costumes taken individually one a lifespan 6 months, with beyond which they must be renewed. Only some costumes require only one annual renewal.
